Experience: Andean Wings Boutique Hotel Cusco

Tairona Inca: Colombia and Peru in 2 Weeks
A review of Andean Wings Boutique Hotel from my two night stay in Cusco at the start of the Peru trip!

Cusco has a large offering of hotels so selecting the right one can be challenging. We chose to stay in Andean Wings for its location and positive reviews.

This boutique hotel has 16 rooms in a fully-restored 16th century colonial gem. Opened in 2009, it focuses on the mystical and we were excited to stay and learn more!

Highlights

  • Luxurious private boutique hotel property.
  • Located in the heart of Cusco.
  • Focus on spiritual well-being.
  • Friendly professional staff.

Experience

Arriving at the property a doorman welcomed us and helped us with our bags. After giving my name at the reception, I was led to the bar where we sat with hot coca tea and filled in the paper work.

We were then introduced to our room, the beautiful Capuccino Suite.

Fortunately we had a chance to enjoy dinner and a partial gastronomic tours one evening. On our last day, we took a tour of the hotel grounds.

Location

Steps away from the central square of Cusco, Andean Wings can’t be more centrally located. The area is safe and near many shops and restaurants. Almost every point of interest is in walking distance.

Service

All of the staff we had the pleasure of dealing with were very amicable. We were always greeted with a smile, even by the cleaning crew.

The waitresses in the restaurant were very warm and made our dining experience a pleasure.

The reception staff were very professional and efficient. They were also very thoughtful for example, they recommended we bring an umbrella which really came in handy when a downpour started!

Room

We stayed in the Capuccino Suite which had a large King sized bed facing an in-room jacuzzi and flat screen TV. The soft colored walls were accented by purple touches.

The jacuzzi sitting right in the room is definitely a unique lavish feature. The staff can prepare the bath with notice so that you enjoy a hot relaxing soak after a long day of touring.

The bathroom had a tiled shower and sink countertop.

Wifi is available in the room and around the property.

Activities

  • Tours: The hotel offers a varied selection of tours to all the main destinations including Machu Picchu. Other agencies are also right outside the hotel as it is centrally located.
  • Mystical Journeys: Take an exclusive tour to discover the spiritual side of the Andes. Learn about plant medicines, energy healing and how its significance in Peruvian culture.
On one of the tours you can even participate in a ceremonial drink of the San Pedro cactus to connect with Mother Earth!
  • Six Pumas Spa: Spa treatments available at the hotel.

Dining

Mandela Restaurant & Bar – The main restaurant with seating in the courtyard offers meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chef creates wonderful local dishes such as the lomo saltado and carpaccio de zuccinis.

The chef gave us a peek into the kitchen and how to make some traditional Peruvian dishes!

Summary

Andean Wings offered an unforgettable stay with personalized service and providing an environment that made us feel at home away from home. The focus on the Peruvian culture and spirituality was very unique and special.

If looking for a luxurious stay with an excellent location and service, Andean Wings is a wonderful choice!
