Experience

In 1980s two Cypriot brothers, originally in land development, started the hotel company Constantinou Bros Hotels. Today, they own and operate four luxury hotels in Cyprus. Asimina Suites Hotel is the fully renovated 5 star realization of their original hotel, the Paphian Bay hotel.

Asimina Suites is ideal for travelers looking for an adults-only luxury experience. As one of the highest ranked resorts in Paphos, we were looking forward to this beachfront stay.

Coming from London, we arrived at the hotel late in the evening. The reception was waiting for us and escorted us directly to the room. We checked in and signed the registration in the convenience of the room.

We stayed in a One Bedroom Suite which had a separate living space from the bedroom. A small foyer includes a cupboard with an espresso machine and minibar. The living space was comfortable with a couch and coffee table. Fruit and wine were set on the table to welcome us.

The main bedroom faced the living room with windows facing the sea on the left. The connected bathroom featured two sinks, a bathtub, rain shower, and toilet which is behind frosted glass doors.

Aside from the usual offerings, Asimina Suites offers in-suite free wi-fi, plasma TV with satellite and DVD player. Relax with the in-room bathrobe and slippers.

The next morning after a delicious breakfast, we went on a tour of the property. The garden and main pool are the centerpiece of the hotel. Guests can relax around the pool on chairs while servers check for drink orders.

The beach is private and has a pier to go swimming in the clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Taking a walk down the beach to the next property (also owned by Constantinou Bros) we found a small white church. The quaint but eye catching Saint Nicholas Church really added a local flavor to the shoreline.

There are four different restaurants available for every craving guests might have. Each has the option to dine indoor or outdoor, or just stop in for drinks at the Lounge Bar or VIPS’ Bar. For couples looking for something special, an intimate romantic a la carte dinner for two is offered at the pier overlooking the sea.

We checked out the Elixir Spa which offers free saunas and steam baths, a relaxation room and a fully air conditioned gym with cardio and strength training equipment. Guests also have access to the indoor and outdoor Bowling Greens at neighboring sister hotels which have hosted premiere bowling tournaments, including the World Bowls Champion of Champions Tournament in 2012.

Ultimate relaxation and luxury seems to be the goal for Asimina Suites. There are even yachts, helicopters and jets for hire from the hotel. If those are slightly out of your price range, more accessible tours and cruises can also be booked for guests.

After the tour, the concierge helped arrange a rental car which was delivered to the hotel. Then we checked out in the afternoon and set out to explore the sites.

As the hotel is located on the West coast of Cyprus in the small town of Paphos there are plenty of activities. In ancient times, this small town was the capital of the island which makes it one of UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage sites. Historical points of interest include The Tomb of the Kings, Aphrodites Rock, and the Odeon among others.

Our experience with the entire hotel staff has been very positive from the management, front desk, and concierge, to the restaurant servers. To highlight an example, I misplaced my swim trunks and advised the front desk and considered them gone. When I arrived home in the US, I found package from the hotel with my misplaced article of clothing. Talk about a personalized service that follows through!

If you are looking for a luxury getaway in Cyprus, I highly recommend you treat yourself and stay at the Asimina Suites Hotel. May I suggest an Executive Suite that features its own private pool with Jacuzzi?
