Background
The hotel is located in the center of town just northwest of the Presidential Palace and about ten minutes away from Nouakchott beaches. Nouakchott is the capital and hub of Mauritania. There are various embassies located around the hotel within walking distance. This family run 3 star hotel has a history in the capital as one of the more established and well known hotels in town.
Experience
The hotel has 34 rooms, which are equipped with all the modern essentials for a comfortable stay. I stayed in the Marc Edouard Nabe suite. This massive room had all the luxuries of a traditional mansion with a large seating area, separated from the bedroom. The bathroom included a shower and bath with his and her sinks. Complimentary toiletries were available as well. The room has strong free wifi, a phone, and a flat screen TV with cable and satellite channels. Safe deposit boxes can be found at the front desk. I enjoyed the excellent room service for an afternoon tea or a full meal. The traditional Mauritanian decoration was my favorite part of the room.
The restaurant, bar, and lounge on the first floor have a healthy selection of local and international cuisines. I even purchased a freshly caught fish from the market and the restaurant chef happily prepared it for me according to my preference. What excellent personalized service!
Breakfast is taken in the lounge of the hotel which is a popular café during the day.
Service at the hotel is one of the highlights. The hotel arranges complementary airport transfers and any transportation requirements. They also can provide any information or local knowledge of Nouakchott. Tours to the National Museum of Mauritania, the market, and the beaches can be arranged at the front desk.
