Experience: Las Casitas del Colca

Tairona Inca: Colombia and Peru in 2 Weeks
A review of Las Casitas Del Colca for a one night stay during a visit to Colca Canyon.

Highlights

  • 5 Star property set with a view of the Colca valley.
  • Luxurious rooms with private hot tubs and fireplaces.
  • Excellent discreet service and concierge.
  • Educational and enjoyable onsite activities.

Experience

On arrival to the property, we passed through a security gate where they check your name. Then in the parking lot a man named Diego came with fresh towels then showed us directly to our rooms. The luggage arrived soon after.

Welcome drinks and cake waited for us in the room.

We walked around the property and passed by the spa and pool. Making our way around the large property we eventually arrived at the animal farm where the alpacas and llamas were kept.

That evening we enjoyed a Peruvian cooking class and cocktail making class, followed by a sit down dinner at the fine dining restaurant.

The next day after breakfast, we participated in the alpaca and llama feeding which was really enjoyable!

Location

The property is set in the Colca valley near the town of Yanque. The mountain and river views from the rooms are picturesque. The exclusive surroundings offer guests a private and stress free stay.

The Colca Canyon is a short drive away and can be arranged by the hotel.

Service

The reception and concierge service was very efficient. They politely and patiently went through the options with me to figure out the best way to arrive at Arequipa.

Service in the restaurant was very professional.

The chef and bartender who taught the classes were friendly and fun!

Also a special mention to the masseuse in the spa who was available late for our massages.

Room

The rooms or casitas were extremely luxurious and the primary draw of the property.

They featured in room fireplaces which were lit at night (on request).

On the private terrace was seating area and a heated hot tub to enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains and valley beyond the garden.

The bathrooms were alluring with a large tub, an inside and outside open air shower. They also had a fresh herb garden to make tea or add aromas to your bath.

Activities

  • Tours: Tours to all of the main attractions can be easily organized by the concierge.
  • Hotel Activities: The hotel offered many activities onsite to enjoy during your stay such as cooking classes, cocktail lessons, horse riding or animal feeding.
  • Spa: The spa is available for guests to enjoy a stress-releasing treatment.

Dining

The main restaurant is located down the hall from the lobby. It offers fine-dining Peruvian and international cuisines.

Enjoy the outside seating with views of the Colca valley.

Summary

If luxury and privacy are important to your stay the only high-end resort of the area, Las Casitas del Colca, is your best choice. The hotel provides a retreat from the backpacking crowd and large group tourists.

Opulent rooms, outdoor hot tubs and glamours bathrooms are all apart of the experience. Service is discreet and the onsite dining is delectable.

I highly recommend a stay for the luxury traveler visiting Colca Canyon!
