Experience: Marshall Islands Resort, Marshall Islands

Highlights

  • Picturesque sea views from the balconies.
  • Many facilities available including a dive shop.
  • Traditional restaurant with friendly service.
  • Primary resort offering in town.

Background

The Marshall Islands Resort (previously named the Outrigger Marshall Islands Resort) is a locally owned and managed property. Located between the airport and the center of town, this property is away from the center, on a quiet coast of turquoise waters.

As the only property that provides a resort experience, I was looking forward to relaxing with their beautiful views.

Experience

The standout property is easily located from the main road, near the government offices of the country and some supermarkets. Parking is available onsite which makes day trips very convenient. Though driving may not be necessary as the hotel offers a free airport shuttle.

My room had a balcony with a fantastic lagoon view, especially at sunset. The vista could also be seen from the two queen beds. There is a desk with a flat screen cable TV and coffee and tea kettle. Free wireless internet was great. Valuables can be left with the front desk. The small gift necklace welcoming to the resort was a pleasant surprise.

The bathroom was simple but functional, with a bath/shower combination, a sink and a hair dryer. Laundry service is also available.

Due to the design of the hotel, all rooms on the lagoon side have a great view (no matter the floor level).

The main restaurant serves local and international cuisine with a Marshallese flair in the decoration. Servers always had a smile and were very charming.

There is also a bar at the restaurant as well as outside near the pool.

In terms of activities, the resort conveniently has a diving outfit right onsite. Rongelap Expeditions take you diving locally or on a live aboard to Rongelap Atoll. There is also a sea-water swimming pool, gym, and tennis courts. Of course, the hotel is well situated for a tour of Majuro.

If visiting for business, the property has several banquet and function facilities that can be arranged for different group sizes. It’s hard to beat a modern event space with such a magnificent view!

The front desk and staff around the hotel were always helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Marshall Islands Resort is an excellent choice if vacationing in Majuro. The facilities, views from the rooms, and diving outfit make it a unique property and one that will certainly leave visitors wanting to stay longer!
