Background
The Radisson Blu is widely considered the best hotel in Lusaka. It is centrally located near shopping outlets, the Kalundu Market and the University of Zambia. It’s a newer hotel in the Radisson group which was established in 1909 and is expanding its worldwide selection of luxury properties. Lusaka is one of the fastest developing cities in Southern Africa and the Radisson Blu Hotel is a good example of their move towards modernity.
Experience
Coming from the bus terminal, the hotel was easy to reach with its location in the commercial district of Lusaka.
The lobby is a compilation of steel, glass, and marble. The furniture is sleek and modern with a pop of red color which draws the eye from space to space. Checking-in was quick and professional. The friendly concierge then showed me to my room.
I stayed in a One Bedroom Suite which was modern and spacious with dramatic black and white color scheme with touches of red. A fruit bowl was a welcoming gift.
The bedroom is separate from the living area with an ensuite bathroom. Facing the bed is a desk with a flat screen TV. The bathroom includes a stand alone shower, bath, toilet, and sink.
The lounge space is comfortable to host a few guests and includes a dining table.
The room also includes complimentary airport transportation, a mini bar, Nespresso machine and access to the breakfast buffet and lounge. The Executive Lounge includes a terrace area for drinks and conversation.
There are a total of 142 rooms at the Radisson Blu Hotel. In addition to the suites there are also Standard Rooms and which provide coffee and tea, air conditioning, satellite TV, wireless internet and access to the fitness facilities. There are also Accessible Rooms with modified hardware and fixtures designed for ease of access.
Filini Restaurant & Bar is the main restaurant at the Radisson Blu Hotel. It is a stand out establishment in Lusaka with a wide range of international dishes. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere with a neutral color scheme and wood accents. Filini also hosts the morning Super Breakfast Buffet which has garnered some fame in the city. The spread includes an impressive array of hot and cold dishes as well as fresh baked bread and fruit.
For lighter snacks and a wide variety of juices and cocktails, guests can choose to enjoy the Pool Bar.
One of the favorite activities for travel worn guests is a visit to the Uzuri Spa. A wide variety of massages and treatments are offered with specialties like the Chocolate Temptation and Sugar Indulgence. You can even get basic massages while you relax poolside. The facility is nestled next to the pool area and surrounded by gardens for a serene environment.
The PACE Fitness Center is fully equipped with cardio machines as well as a range of weight training equipment.
The close proximity to the airport and city center make the Radisson Blu Hotel conference facilities ideal for business travelers. The hotel can provide meeting rooms, pre-function areas and even a ballroom for large events. Top-quality audiovisual equipment and free wireless internet is included for every event though the coordinator can accommodate almost any request. Catering can even be arranged if you wish to extend your event outside the hotel grounds.
Service at the property was really top notch. Every member of staff that I came in contact with was friendly, professional, and very accommodating to my requests. The management has really put together an excellent team!
The Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka is a first-class establishment and easily the best in the city. With modern and well designed facilities, a fine restaurant, and a winning team, I would highly recommend the Radisson Blu Hotel for anyone visiting Lusaka.
