Experience
Le Vendome Beirut is the definition of old-world luxury. The 5-star hotel has hosted royalty, celebrities and dignitaries and is one of the only designated boutique hotels in the InterContinental Group. Though always considered one of the finest hotels in the world, Le Vendome Beirut had to close its doors for a decade due to civil strife in Lebanon. After peace was achieved, InterContinental invested millions of dollars to restore it to its landmark status.
The decor of the hotel plays a large part in what makes this hotel a true gem in the Middle East. The French chateau inspired interiors elegantly compliment the stunning views of the Mediterranean.
We stayed in an Executive Sea View Room with a wonderful sea view with a small balcony. Next to the comfortable king bed is a seating area with a coffee table facing the TV.
Next to the hallway entering the room is the marble clad bathroom with sink, bath and shower, toilet and bidet.
In the room comforts include satellite TV, internet and wi-fi, and mini bar. Optional services like complimentary newspaper delivery, neck and shoulder massages, buffet breakfast and valet service.
The hotel hosts two of the most famous dining experiences in Beirut, Sydney’s and Le Petite Maison. Both offer international cuisine but Sydney’s adds to the experience by offering guests 24 hour food and bar service and views of the Mediterranean, night or day. Named for the first manager John Sydney, the restaurant remains one of the fashionable entertainment spots in Beirut since it was reopened with the hotel in 1996.
The hotel doesn’t yet offer any in-house spa or gym facilities (these are in construction and scheduled to be completed soon) but if guests are given complementary access to several classy pools nearby including La Plage across the street and the Phoenicia InterContinental Hotel’s pools and spa. Once there, guests can enjoy the 22 private treatment and therapy rooms as well as the saunas, steam rooms, aquagym, mineral whirlpools and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The famous Corniche Beirut is also conveniently right outside. This waterfront promenade extends the length of the city and is popular with joggers, walkers and bikers.
While La Vendome Beirut fully celebrates its rich and complex heritage, it also looks to the future. It is also an IHG Green Engage Hotel which measures its everyday environmental impact. They are constantly trying to find new ways to reduce their carbon footprint so future generations can enjoy the same experience as we do today.
The experience of staying at La Vendome Beirut was splendid. Combining old Hollywood glamor with current day comforts in such a vibrant city was a truly unique offering.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Beirut!
