Background
Pestana Caracas has quickly become one of the trendiest hotels in the city since opening in 2008. With 195 rooms and suites in a prime location it’s easy to see why it has become popular among both business and leisure travelers. It sits in the middle of the new financial center of Caracas near Parque del Este and Los Palos Grandes which houses some of the most prominent banks, shops, and restaurants in the city.
Experience
The Pestana Caracas is about 45 minutes from the international airport, depending on traffic.
Walking in, I found a modern lobby with an attached bar. The stark white floors were polished to a high shine and furniture and stair railings were accented with steel construction.
I booked one of the Twin Superior Rooms with a view of the mountains. The contemporary style of the lobby carries through to every room which was colorful and bright. The room was comfortable with a full-size desk and rolling desk chair, a small sitting area and a large flatscreen television. The the bedside reading lamp was built right into the wooden headboard of the bed. Free wireless internet was available and the room also had a microwave, mini bar, in-room safe, and air conditioning. Complimentary breakfast is included in the rate.
Some rooms feature a few extras like an iron and ironing board in the Twin Executive and King Executive rooms. The King Junior Suites feature a full living room with a bar area.
The Ribeira Brava Restaurant is Pestana Caracas’ main restaurant which serves Mediterranean and international cuisine. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant which was modern but relaxed, making it a favorite spot for casual business lunch and dinner meetings.
The Lobby Bar offers drinks and a petite menu of appetizers and sandwiches.
The real hot spots at the hotel for both business and younger local crowd are Lounge Ávila and Lounge VIP 19. Lounge Ávila is located on the 18th floor of the hotel with fantastic views over the city and Mount Ávila. During the day the area is reserved for use of the outdoor pool but at night turns into a nightlife hotspot. It offers a menu of appetizers, tapas, and a range of specialty cocktails. Up a floor is the exclusive Lounge VIP 19 which is the newest entertainment addition at the hotel. This is an excellent place to enjoy Caracas’ amazing sunsets with a cocktail and good conversation.
The Spa offers massages and treatments collected from around the world. There is also the Well-Being Center which includes the swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna, and the fully equipped gym.
The Pestana Caracas also accommodates business travelers. There are six rooms which can be combined and reconfigured to fit any occasion. The most flexible rooms are the Mochima Rooms which can be used as three separate spaces that can seat under 200 people or they can be combined for up to 600 guests. The other three rooms Caníma, Tama and Dinira are more suitable for smaller groups.
The staff at Pestana Caracas was professional and very accommodating. Not only do they respond quickly to any request or inquiry but they always went the extra mile to make sure my stay was the best experience in Caracas, including organizing a tour of the city for me.
The Pestana Caracas is a fine example of the new contemporary Venezuela. This 4-star hotel has gone to great lengths to match the level of luxury and entertainment that can be found in the most cosmopolitan cities of the world. The city really comes alive at night and staying at the Pestana Caracas puts you in the center of all the action. I would highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure, especially for travelers that value an upbeat nightlife.
