Located on the coast of The Gambia in West Africa, with a beach of golden sand stretching for miles is The Kairaba Beach Hotel, a luxurious five star favorite of national and international guests. Nestled amongst forty acres of glorious tropical gardens with direct access to Kololi Beach guests can only expect to unwind and enjoy the superb restaurants, bars, pool, gym and spa that the hotel has to offer. There are 160 rooms and suites within the hotel with views across the gardens and the Atlantic Ocean. Everyone’s tastes are sure to be delighted from the choice of eight on-site bars and restaurants and the Bolong Bar will keep you refreshed throughout the day whilst relaxing by the pool. Recently new to the hotel is the Kairaba Spa, Wellness and Health Club, which offers an array of treatments and massages to thoroughly relax the mind and body.
Experience
I recently stayed at the hotel in a regular room which was simple but funcational with a great balcony, queen bed, workdesk, television, and minibar. The bathroom was a shower only set up. Wifi was included and signal from the room was strong.
A major selling point of the hotel is its ideal location. The tourist hotspot in The Gambia is Kololi and Kairaba is in the best position right at the end of the street right on the beach. Restaurants and bars are just a few minutes walk outside of the hotel where taxis are also plentiful for touring around.
The main restaurant serves international cuisine. The terrace offers beautiful views over the gardens and an opportunity to play with the cheeky monkeys. Whilst enjoying breakfast outside, I was visited by monkeys that swept down from the surrounding trees in an attempt to rustle up a morning treat of their own. They were frequently chased away by the staff but usually only after they had grabbed at least a packet or two of sugar!
Resting by the poolside is a great way to relax for the day. The garden was beautiful and I even saw a peacock wander through! The pool area is on the way to the beach and surrounded by a well manicured garden, making it a great place for guests to relax and sip on cocktails.
The entire hotel team were a pleasure to speak with. They were relaxed and friendly, always happy to strike up a conversation.
If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a little ‘me’ time whilst surrounded by luxury, a beautiful environment and great customer service then The Kairaba Beach Hotel will not disappoint. The location has everything to offer a relaxed stay especially with the beach and pool, plus if you enjoy experiencing local attractions and cuisines you are able to do so without having to travel far. Remember to keep an eye on your breakfast though or those monkeys may surprise you!
