Background

Originally built in the 60s, this hotel property was recently acquired in the early 2000s by a French/Lebanese family with a background in trade and real estate. They have since renovated the hotel and created a modern hotel of international standards with a large selection of facilities.

Just 10 minutes from the international airport, the hotel has a multilingual staff to welcome travelers. Currently the hotel holds 74 rooms and 6 suites but is in the process of a large expansion.

Experience

Coming from Bissau, I was glad to find the property was set up like a resort. Georges, the General Manager, gave me an insightful introduction of the property and their future plans. Soon they will have an additional two high-rise buildings for offices and hotel rooms. The current lobby will be a new café. He also gave me a tour around the property highlighting the many activities that were available.

I stayed in a large room with a window into the well manicured garden. There was a working desk with a coffee and tea station, a flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a useful wall mirror. The bathroom was decorated with some beautiful tile work and featured a rain shower. There were the usual amenities and a bidet, toilet, and sink.

A short walk from the room was the pool and restaurant area. The Buena Vista restaurant is open for a buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have some great wood oven pizzas and even shisha to relax after your meal.

Le Bateau Ivre is the main restaurant serving international cuisine as well as Mexican and Lebanese dishes.

During the weekends, the onsite nightclub with a separate entrance is open. Here you can party the night away and have the convenience of just walking back to your room after.

There are plenty of activities to keep a guest busy. Besides the showpiece swimming pool, there is a gym, two tennis courts, a basketball court, and a hairdresser. A Spa with a hammam, Jacuzzi, sauna, and massage services is also available.

Another unique offering is the hotel Casino which has some live games in addition to the many slot machines.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the Palais du Peuple so it is a location of choice to hold large government events. With a conference room for up to 500 people, the factilities are sufficient for all types of events.

Activities such as sightseeing can also be arranged by the concierge. So tourism or a relaxing island getaway is easily within reach.

Riviera Royal is an oasis in an otherwise chaotic capital and it is easily one of the top resorts in the country. The pool and wealth of facilities plus its great service and management make it an easy choice for any visitor to Conakry.
