Background

The Regent of Rotorua is located in the heart of Rotorua, a popular tourist city that is widely known for its geothermal activity and geysers. This boutique is known for its glamorous style and fine dining fusion restaurant and bar. As one of the top rated hotels in town, I was eager to experience a stay.

Experience

Driving from the airport, the location was easy to find in town and onsite parking was free. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived, since the staff was expecting us. The expert team checked us in and eagerly showed us the beautiful suite.

We stayed in a three bedroom suite, with two bathrooms, a kitchen and family room. Not only was it very spacious but really smart and design oriented. I loved the black and white interior decoration accenting the sleek modern furniture. There was a plate of fruit and treats to welcome us on the table. The rooms were decked out with fast Wi-Fi, safes, air conditioning/heating, espresso machine, microwave, fridge, large flat screen TV with plenty of channels, iPod dock station, and of course amenities from ecofriendly Natural Earth for the bath.

As we did not have dinner yet, the staff arranged a wonderful late night meal even though the kitchen was technically closed. Talk about going the extra mile!

Besides room service, one of the highlights of the hotel is its award winning restaurant, the Regent Room. This trendy locale offers fusion cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere. Breakfast is made to order and lunches/dinners were popular with plenty of diners.

The wine bar, which is adjacent to the restaurant, offers delectable choices to accompany a meal or snack. Order a cocktail and mingle poolside in an exclusive and private setting.

The Regent of Rotorua is very centrally located so most sights in town are accessible by foot. Restaurants and shops are very close by. The friendly staff will gladly make recommendations and customize your itinerary for you.

A central feature of the hotel is its heated outdoor pool and courtyard. This is a perfect private place to relax, take a swim and get a tan. Want something warmer? Head over to the natural mineral bath and hop in. Thermal waters are drawn from below the hotel location filling the pool with warm waters adjustable to up to 40 degrees in temperature. There is also a mini gym equipped with a variety of exercise machines from treadmills to cross trainers.

If visiting on business, the Regent is an ideal location to host business meetings or events in a unique setting. If you would like to impress your guests, the Regent has the spectacular set up to do exactly that.

One of the favorite aspects of our stay was the extraordinary staff. They really went out of their way to make sure that we were well taken care of and had the exact stay that we were searching for. They were accommodating and satisfied all of our needs.

Simply put, the Regent of Rotorua is a standout property in the center of Rotorua and an ideal place to call home for tourists and business travelers alike. With a great team, stunning interiors and a unique design concept, I would love to visit again.
