Experience: Windhoek Country Club Resort, Namibia

A review of the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia on the trip The South of Africa Tour.

Highlights

  • Luxurious Casino.
  • Perfectly manicured 18-hole golf course.
  • Relaxing river pool and cave bar area.
  • Wide range of dining options.

Background

The Windhoek Country Club Resort was opened in 1995 by Legacy Hotels and Resorts which focuses on providing an unforgettable hotel experience. The 4-star resort sits on the outskirts of Windhoek center and just a short drive from Eros Airport. The central location, luxurious rooms, and range of activities make Windhoek Country Club Resort the leading hotel choice of the capital city.

Experience

I stayed in a massive Suite which features a separate open-concept designed living room with a sitting area and workspace from the master bedroom. The living room has access to the patio which boasts a 180 degree view of the golf course which makes the suite ideal for hosting guests.

The bedroom also has access to the patio which is perfect for quiet coffee in the morning. The striking master bathroom features a bath, separate walk-in shower, toilet and dual sink vanity. The soaker tub is the perfect place to relax. The bedroom also features a small sitting area and flat screen television.

The rest of the 152 rooms include Standard Rooms and Luxury Suites and a Presidential Suite. Each guest also enjoys free access to wireless internet, 24 hour room service, and flat screen TVs.

There are two options for fine dining at Windhoek Country Club Resort. Kokerboom Restaurant offers an international a la carte menu during the day and a specialty buffet in the evening full of fresh and local fare. I got to try some juicy kudu steak! For something a little more exotic, Chez Wou Restaurant is open the evening for guests looking for cuisine with an oriental flare.

There are also options for those looking for something a little more casual. Tappers Cocktail Bar & Lounge is perfect for Happy Hour. The bar features an extensive selection of specialty coffees and cocktails with light meals. For those who want to enjoy the pool area, The Terrace Pool & Bar is nestled in a “cave” and serves light meals and cocktails.

One of the major attractions at the Windhoek Country Club Resort is the 18-hole Golf Course. The course is home to the annual Bank Windhoek Namibian Open Golf Tournament which attracts amateur players from all over the country.

The other facilities at the Windhoek Country Club Resort include a fully equipped gym and fitness center, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a lazy river to keep every family member entertained and active.

The Desert Jewel Casino features multiple gaming tables and a multitude of slot machines.

The Windhoek Country Club Resort is also ideal for business or private events. Day conference and private function packages can be organized and booked with the resort’s Banqueting Coordinator to make sure every detail is in order. Refreshments, full buffet lunch in the Kokerboom Restaurant, overhead and slide projectors, televisions, microphones, special lighting and sound and even floral arrangements can all be prepared.

The great facilities attract A-list events in Namibia such as the 1995 Miss Universe Pageant and the annual Bank Windhoek Namibian Open Golf Tournament.

The service at Windhoek Country Club Resort is exceptional. On arrival I was escorted to the room where I completed check in and was offered a welcome plate. The staff was very friendly and more than happy to help if I had any questions or requests. They gave me some suggestions and tips for my trip to Swakopmund.

With first-rate facilities, a great location on a golf course and plenty of family friendly onsite activities it’s no wonder the Windhoek Country Club Resort is a favorite for both locals and tourists alike. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone traveling for business or pleasure.
