Experience
Gallery Park Hotel has been the selected as the sole representative of Latvia for the past two years in the Five Star Alliance, a world luxury hotel association. Also a part of the Châteaux & Hôtels Collection, this 5-star hotel is a historic 19th century building situated in the center of Riga and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With such an impressive background, I was excited to visit the hotel.
Coming from Vilnius, I arrived late in the evening. The hotel was a short taxi ride from the central bus station. On check-in the reception was waiting for me and had my room ready.
The rooms of the Gallery Park Hotel are split in to two styles; second and third floors are styled after Napoleon III while the fourth floor is contemporary. There are 24 guest rooms including 5 suites including Royal Suite and Imperial Suite which exhibits original art objects and antiques from the world’s leading auction houses as well as the latest technology. Wi-Fi, an in-room safe, minibar, and Thalgo toiletries are just a few modern features integrated into every room. Guests also get amazing panoramic views of Kronvalda Park, the Art Museum or famous Riga’s boulevards from any of the two dozen rooms.
The next morning I went to the Gallery Park Hotel’s award winning Restaurant Renommé for breakfast. It has been named as one of the five best restaurants in Europe with some of the finest contemporary cuisine and sample wines that suit any palate. The Gallery Vinoteka is an exclusive list of the world’s finest wines chosen by the hotel’s sommelier to match any gastronomy. The hotel also exclusively offers wine from Chateau de Berne. Private dining rooms can also be reserved for groups of 6 to 30. For afternoon tea or after dinner drinks, the X.O. Bar is a cosy spot for casual drinks. In the summer months the Gallery Veranda is also open so guests can enjoy a martini in the hotel’s private garden.
During the day I went for a little sightseeing around Riga. The old town is just a short walk away and most sights can be easily navigated by foot. The hotel also offers unique tours like a professional photography session in Old Riga for 1 or 2 hours which is perfect for weddings. For something that gets the adrenaline pumping, the hotel also hosts the Gallery Park Hotel Supercars Challenge. Participants gather at the hotel to showcase their exotic supercars before racing through Latvia, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Back at the hotel I went on a hotel tour to explore the facilities.
The Gallery SPA has specialized staff offering a range of treatment for the body and face, aromatherapy, massages and special treatments designed for men using Carita and Thalgo products. The spa also houses a cool jet-stream pool, sauna, and Technogym equipped fitness room.
Walking through the property I noticed the paintings, artworks, antique instruments, and original historic murals. The exploration was quite exciting as everything had a story behind it.
The service throughout the stay was excellent from friendly knowledgeable receptionists to passionate management. I felt well taken care of as soon as I set foot onto the property.
The Gallery Park Hotel doesn’t disappoint as an acclaimed luxury boutique. This historic property creates a unique offering with its juxtapose of the modern with antique designs. The modest exterior has so much to offer inside such as an award winning restaurant and 5 star facilities. The exceptional service completes the picture for the hotel to gain international recognition and top ratings.
I highly recommend this hotel for visitors looking for the best that Riga has to offer.
