Background

Pestana Tropico is located in Cidada da Praia, the capital of Cape Verde. The hotel is considered one of the best in the city and is consistently well ranked on travel websites. It is just a short 10-minute walk from the Plateau, the city’s historical center and is favored for its colonial architecture and gardens. Also nearby the hotel you will find the Old City, or Cidade Velha to the locals. It is an area rich in history as it was the first city built by the Europeans not located in Europe and where Cape Verde Island settlements first began.

Experience

Pestana offers a variety of rooms from standard rooms without a balcony to a presidential suite. There are a total of 93 rooms located in the hotel each decorated in a contemporary style and are vibrant with the traditional colors of African décor. I really enjoyed the large bed and sea view. My room had great air conditioning, a mini bar, a flat screen TV with international cable and most importantly free Wi-Fi access. Balconies are also available with most of the rooms that will look out over the luxurious pool area and/or ocean.

The Alex Restaurant serves fresh Portuguese and international cuisine and is rated as the top restaurant in the city. After a meal the Llheu bar overlooking the sea becomes a popular hang out.

One of the most notable features of the hotel is the outdoor salt water pool. The pool area offers a tranquil setting and is the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. Here you will find plenty sunbeds and parasols for optimal relaxation.

There is also a fitness center to get a work out in during your stay.

Located in the capital of Cape Verde the area is rich with historical architecture and sites. In just a few minutes you can walk the city streets and be immersed in the exuberate culture and history or enjoy the relaxing landscape of ocean views. Tourist sights can be reached by foot, but taxis are readily available at the hotel. There is also a Hertz desk conveniently located inside the lobby.

Pestana Tropico houses four newly renovated meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 200 people. The business facilities are equipped with projectors, computers, wire or wireless microphones and other audio-visual equipment. A business center is also available.

The team at Pestana Tropico was professional and friendly. I was always greeted with a smile and the reception helped me plan my tour around the city. The 24-hour security was also helpful in directing me or hailing a taxi.

With a unique saltwater pool, a great restaurant and bar, a central seaside location and service to insure a great stay, the Pestana Tropico is one of the best choices for leisure or business travelers.
