Background
Hotel Palm Beach is a 4 star property right on the main road of downtown Lome next to the sea. Built 24 years ago, this high-rise building is a landmark in the city and a gathering place for business or pleasure. It is also near the business hub, market, shopping area, convention center, and border to Ghana. The state even used the location of the hotel as a reference point when measuring miles away from the city!
Experience
Coming by road from Ghana I found the hotel right away. With its height, it’s hard to miss! The hotel has 58 deluxe rooms and 7 suites. I stayed in a deluxe room with a great view of the city and sea. The spacious room had two single beds facing a TV, a small seating area, and a work desk with a coffee making area. The décor was minimalist and smart.
The marble clad bathroom had a shower, bath and sink.
The free high-speed internet was great and very welcome after some long distance traveling.
In terms of dining, there are several options onsite. Restaurant Le Baron is the fine dining option on the 1st floor offering an international cuisine combined with local flavors and ingredients. The restaurant bar L’Océan serves the pool terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. During the day you can order a fresh squeezed juice from the bar!
Valentino’s Bar is in the lobby and caters to meet ups and business affairs. Ask about nights with live music.
The property has a casino attached for those interested in gambling. A gym is available to guests with coaching as an option. The open air pool on the 2nd floor is a real highlight of the hotel. With sweeping views of the city and sea, you can sunbath, swim, or have a drink. Just across the road is the beach, though few people go sunbathing here.
Ayaba Salon provides massages, scrubs and other treatments.
Shops and offices are located on the lower floors. As the hotel is very central, a step outside will lead you to markets, restaurants, bars, clubs, and touristic sites. Taxis and moto-taxis are always available outside or ask the hotel to arrange a car.
Palm Beach is also focused on business guests with their business center, five conference rooms and event arrangements. They can cater to different events and create a professional setting matched with service.
Service was great throughout my stay. Even though I had a late check in, the front desk readily assisted me and also gave me tips and information on touring the capital.
Hotel Palm Beach is easily the most famous hotel in the city and maintains its place as an international oasis while highlighting its Togolese background. With comfortable rooms, unmatched views, a terrace pool, and fine restaurants all at competitive prices, its easy to see why everyone recommends Palm Beach.
